Alright lads, yesterday,I went to the Singapore Airshow, the largest airshow in Asia and the 3rd largest in the world.Ive posted some photos I took yesterday up here.I have never been to any airshow before, well actually I did once, but that was during the SAF Open House a couple of years ago or last year I cant really remember, showcasing only military aircrafts unlike the airshow I went to yesterday which includes both military and commercial aircraft. The open house was free for the public while the Singapore Airshow we had to pay $20 for adults and $8 for children. So was it worth it?
For $20,I certainly think it was worth it with the aerial display included but unfortunately I didnt managed to catch it because I arrived there late.I went out at about 11am,took a taxi to the Pasir Ris Interchange where they provide free shuttle bus to the brand new Changi Exhibition Centre, and it was damn huge I have to say.So I reach at the interchange at around 11.30 am and I was shocked to see the queue was so damn long,I cant describe how long it is here because it is very difficult,so no choice, have to queue up as well and it took me almost 1 1/2 hours before I finally boarded the shuttle bus.And by the time I reach there,it was 2 plus, the aerial display was over,I dont know why they only did it once, they should do it twice.Actually if you only want to see the aerial display, you dont have to buy a ticket to the airshow, just go to the changi beach, and Im sure you will get to watch it for free.Of course I was disappointed to miss out on watching the Black Knights on display, but I got a glimpse of the pilots,in their vans heading in the same direction as the shuttle bus I was riding on,probably they have just went for their lunch and are heading back to the airport for some unfinished business.I thought they was going to do another show, but of course they didnt.
The trip took about 2o mins, and then we had to wait for quite some time at the registration center, where they security check was being delayed for quite a while because of some stupid congestion. But once all the security checks have finished,I quickly went to the exhibition site and it was amazing. All the military and commercial vehicles and planes were being displayed outside while inside the air condition hall, there was various booths showing the different models and engines of their respective companies. But the thing that I was really looking forward to was the Airbus 380,the biggest plane in the world.Of course Ive seen it on the TV,but you have to see it up close to see how big it really is! I took many pictures of it,I just couldnt get enough of it.It was simply magnificent.I was disappointed to see that it was the only commercial plane on display, the others was the military jets but there was some private jets as well.Everything was so beautiful I wish the airshow could be held everyday but of course thats not possible. Then it was time to go home,it was about 5.30pm,took the shuttle bus back to Pasir Ris Interchange, grab a bite at WhiteSands and then went home.My legs were aching so badly yesterday,Im glad I feel better now.
Apart from the long wait,I think it was worth going to.How many times do you get to see the A380 up close? I know you might say by going to the airport, but if you went to Airshow, you can get to see it even closer,no glass wall whatsoever.I cant wait to see the Dreamliner next.My mum who was with me yesterday told me that she is not going to go to any airshows anymore, understandable,so I probably going to have to go on my own next year,if they still organise it,I hope they does. The event ends today until 5pm.If you went to the airshow as well, please share with me your experience because I would love to hear from you.
