So,the much anticipated and much fought for route between the respective budget airlines of Malaysia and Singapore,AirAsia,Tiger Airways and Jetstar Asia made history yesterday when both AirAsia and Tiger Airways flew their way out to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur respectively. For the past 30 years, only Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines were allowed to operate the lucrative and highly popular route, but of course things has change dramatically now with the emergence of low cost budget carriers.
Tiger Airways was the first airline to set off to Kuala Lumpur at about 10.50 am and about 5 mins later, its counterpart,AirAsia in which their CEO,Dato' Tony Fernandes made their historic arrival at Changi Airport Terminal One.But the main question is was it all worth it.Well if you compare it with the national carriers,Singapore and Malaysian Airlines,it is definitely worth it.The price for a person to travel from Singapore to Malaysia or vise versa in the national carriers,it is a whooping $440.However,if you are taking the budget airlines,it is a cheap $150 per person so its definitely worth it if you compare the financial issue but of course, you dont expect the luxury food and drinks or entertainment on the budget airlines. If you have sat on a budget airlines before, you know what I mean, but again the most important thing is that you get to travel to your destination safely yeah.As for JetStar Asia, tickets were also going for as low as 88 cents but after the promotions,a normal ticket would cost about S$200 with taxes.
If you then compare the price with the price of a coach to Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, then of course taking the coach is far more cheaper, and you even get good food and entertainment depending on what type of bus you are taking. But time wise, taking the plane is much more faster than taking the coach,if Im not wrong its 3 hours early. So if you dont like to wait for too long, then the plane is your choice. So there you have it,the advantage and disadvantage between the 3 different ways of how you may travel to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. As for me,I prefer taking the coach, because I have been used to taking it ever since I was young, though it might be long and boring watching those Malaysian expressways, but it beats having to pay the high cost of travelling on SIA.As for the budget airlines,I have never taken it before nor do I think i will ever, being it travelling to Malaysia or anywhere else, because I wont tell you why.I hope that the bus companies wont be affected too much or else I would have to think about taking the budget airlines to go to KL.
What about yourself? I would love to hear your views and what mode of transportation do you prefer and why.Do tell me yeah.
