After reading the Sunday Times today about an incident last year, where a women slapped a flight stewardess, from our own Singapore Airlines, just because she served the women's husband first, and then went on asked her loudly why she is talking to her husband,it has come to my attention that this issue needs to have a serious look at.I find this news really interesting.
I think if any women is talking to someone husbands, not just the stewardess, the wife would probably get jealous easily. But I think when you are on a plane,it is not right to think that the stewardess is trying to do something fishy just because she is talking to your husband or just because she is serving your husband first instead of yourself.I dont know what will the men think of the situation, but I think its outrageous for the wife to get jealous for no reason.Ok,the least you could do is to raise your voice, but to slap the stewardess,I think that is over the limit, unless of course you are completely sure that the stewardess is doing something that you dont really like.If the stewardess only ask,'Would you like coffee or tea' or something like that, there is no problem whatsoever. The incident have of course caused some uncertainty over how they should conduct themselves when dealing with a male passenger with their wife. Many of them has said that they would be serving the lady first before the man,and I believe that is the best thing to do,better play safe than to be sorry. However,if the man was the one who start the conversation first with the stewardess,Im referring to silly conversations of course, then I believe the women should blame the husband instead of the stewardess.
The stewardess who was slapped has sue the women for 'emotional and mental distress' and the case is still in the court.I dont know which side I should support because I dont really know how the stewardess interact with the husband of the women, because if there are clear evidence that she is trying to do something funny, then of course the women have every reason to be angry, but at the same time,I think slapping the stewardess was unneccessary.Hopefully everything will be settle in an amicable manner and hopefully we will never hear of such incident again. The women who slapped the stewardess by the way is a Singaporean,if she was foreigner, then I think this would be a more serious issue.I would love to hear your views on this? Do you think the women was right to slap the stewardess? And what way do you think should the stewardess practise when dealing with male passenger with his companion.Till next time, take care.
