Alright guys,Im back blogging after some days away due to some personal problems that had to be sorted out.But anyway,in this post,Im going to talk about the latest round of contest in the on going US presidential race.Last Tuesday, another 3 state was being contested namely,Wisconsin,Hawaii and Washington. The Democrats didnt particpate in the Washington state as they have already done so,while the Republicans didnt participate in Hawaii.
For the democrats,it was once again my man,Barack Obama who won the contesting states once again, making it 10 wins in the last 10 rounds of contest, which means Hillary didnt win anything in the last 10 contesting states. The interesting news about his win in Wisconsin is that Obama has steadily been chipping away Clinton's base of blue-collar,older,working-class voters, which is great because it means more and more Clinton supporters are now starting to support Obama! The contest in Wisconsin was actually thought to be a close one to call but not surprisingly to me,Barack Obama won it so easily.Obama also scored a projected win in the Hawaii Democratic caucuses, the state where he was born and still has family. There were 20 delegates at stake in that race.So after this round, you might be wondering how much delegates have both of them gotten.Well of course, before Tuesday,Obama was leading Hillary in the number of pledged delegates after after Tuesday,he still is.The latest number shows that Obama has 1,315 delegates to Clinton's 1,245.It is still a slight lead over Hillary but the contest have not ended, theres still some way to go and anything can happen.
On the Republican side, well nothing surprising and nothing new to tell you.John McCain won the Republican primary in Wisconsin and the remaining half of Washington state's delegates in the primary. However,he still can't convince conservatives to line up behind his candidacy. While McCain won convincingly over former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee in Wisconsin, half of the voters in the state who called themselves "very conservative" favored Huckabee, compared to 40 percent for McCain. That is still a huge margin, but speaking of huge, the result has left Huckabee with a bigger mountain to climb. He may still have the support from the conservative, but McCain has the support of the Americans majority, and it looks likely he is going to be the Republican nominee. He has not achieve the required number of delegates to clinch the nominee position, but he is getting closer and closer. With Tuesday's round done and dusted,we will next move on to the big state of Texas,Ohio and Pennsylvania where it has now become a must win state for Hillary if he wants to have any chance of becoming the Democrats nominee. If Obama wins it,then I think we can finally assume that he is going to be the nominee. Its as simple as that. But recent polls have shown that both of them are still very close to each other, but polls means nothing in the election.
I certainly cant wait for March 4.It is going to be a huge and important day for both of them, especially Clinton, she cant afford to lose, but of course being an Obama fan,I would love to see it happening.Everything is happening so quickly, you just cant stop.Just when you think you are ahead, something happen, you fall back down and you have to work your way up again, such is the case on the Democrat side.Just for your information, there will be another debate for the two Democrats candidates happening tomorrow and you can catch it on my favourite news channel CNN,starting from 9 am.Their last debate was rather civil, but with the stakes so high at the moment,I dont expect the same thing to happen now.
