When Eliot Spitzer took the oath of office to become the New York governor 16 months ago,no one had expected that he would be involve in a sex scandal.Why not? Its because Spitzer was a man who built his political legacy on rooting out corruption,including several headline makingbattles with Wall Street while serving as attorney general.Everything was going very well for him,well that is before everyone knew about his sex scandal.
Last Monday,the bubble had burst for him.He was found out to have been hiring prostitutes several time over his time as the N.Y governor.It all began when New York's North Fork Bank notified the Treasury Department about suspicious transfers of money from Spitzer's bank accounts.That investigation led agents to the alleged organizers of the prostitution ring,four of whom were charged in a criminal complaint last week.Spitzer is reportedly used call-girl services 8 times and have paid about $80,000 if Im not mistaken for her services.The identity of the prostitute that he hired,has today been revealed.Her undercover name was Kristen,but her real name is Ashley Alexandra Dupre.She is 22 years old,Ive seen her photo already,and she is beautiful,so I dont think you can blame Spitzer for having to do such thing,but again,he is a public figure he should know best.Since the revelations,many have demanded Spitzer to step down,and he did just that yesterday,announcing his resignation which will take effect from next Monday.So what is his situation now? Well,his resignation is unlikely to affect decisions about whether he will face prosecution,and His attorneys were negotiating Wednesday with the U.S. attorney's office in New York in an effort to avoid criminal charges.He also could face charges related to the Mann Act,which makes it a federal offense to transport someone across state lines for the purpose of prostitution.So there are still many things to be sorted out.
I was quite shock to be honest when I heard this news because I thought Mr Spitzer was one of the good guys who could not possibly get involve in such incident,and I think many people did feel the same way as well.He definitely have disappointed a lot of people but its stupidity on his part.He has everything going well for him and then boom! Everything went down just like that in an instant.What a shame,but like he have said before,he should be responsible for his own action.He should know well that being a high profile public figure in America,there will always be eyes on you like the Paparazi have on Britney Spears,well actually,not until that bad and after what had happen to many government officials before,he should know what to do and not to do.But everything has happen.Its going to be one hell of a time for Spitzer in the coming weeks head Im sure.
