Mississippi win for Obama....

There was only one state up competing today in the never ending US presidential race on the Democratic side between,Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and it was the Mississippi state. It had 33 pledged delegates up for grabs, which will be allocated proportionally and the winner is none other than my man,Barack Obama.Returns from 80 percent of Mississippi's precincts showed Obama gaining 59 percent,to 39 percent for Clinton.

The interesting thing about todays poll was that race played an important issue with many African Americans opting to go with Obama while many White Americans prefer Hillary. They went for him over Clinton 91-9 percent while the percentage for the whites vote for Hillary against Obama was 72 percent to 21 percent.Obama also finished first in the Texas Democratic caucuses. The caucuses were held last week, but the race was not called until Tuesday night.Obama will get more delegates out of the state than Clinton, who won the state's primary.Under the Texas Democratic Party's complex delegate selection plan,Texas voters participated in both a primary and caucuses last week.

So whats the number of delegates now? Well, the latest estimate shows that Obama is still leading of course, with 1,608 delegates to 1,478 delegates for Clinton. It takes 2,025 to win the nomination, but as you know, whatever the result is in the remaining primaries, neither one of the candidates will be able to clinch the nomination, even if Florida or Michigan is being brought back into the frame because the race is so close. That is of course when the superdelegates come in.Obama might be leading Clinton in the number of pledged delegates, but Clinton is leading him in the number of superdelegates by 247 to Obama's 211,according to the Associated Press. But Im just going to focus on the upcoming primaries for now.

Next up is the delegates-rich state of Penssylvania which is 6 weeks away,on the 22nd of April.Im sure we will know more about the state of Florida and Michigan by then, about whether there will be a redo or not.But for now,the battle shall continue on.Six weeks is still a long way to go,so expect some bash talk among the two candidates as America continue to decide who will be the best person to lead the country.
