Why sacking Sven would be a bad decision...

Im sure you have heard about the news that Manchester City owner,Thaksin Shinawatra is planning to sack manager Sven Goran Eriksson at the end of this season and for me,I think it would be the wrong thing to do.I will explain to you further as you scroll down.

When I first heard about the news,I was very surprised because I didn't thought it could happen because Sven has done such an excellent job with the club.I mean he took a mid table club which was not progressing much and he managed to turn it around just in one season alone. In the two previous season,Manchester City finished in the 15th and 14th position respectively and this season they are probably going to end up in 9th position or if results go their way, maybe as high as 7th position. No European football you may argue but that is still one heck of an achievement in my view in just one season only.We should also not forget that he has brought in quality players in the club in the likes of Petrov,Elano and Benjani among others. And the results on the pitch have shown dramatic improvement. They manage to complete the double over local rival Manchester United, something that they have not manage to do for a very long time and they were once challenging for a spot in the Champions League.

However, things didnt go to well for them in the second half. And it is precisely why owner Thaksin has decided to sack him in the summer.Sven has said nothing yet about leaving the club but his long-time assistant Tord Grip has confirmed he expects them to leave following the final two games against Liverpool and Middlesbrough. When Glenn Roeder resigned from the manager's job from Newcastle,Sven was one of the manager that was touted to be the next Newcastle manager and he has said before at that time, that he would love to manage us.Of course our chairman then decided to go for Sam Allardyce instead and I was devastated because I thought Sven would be an excellent choice, and he has proved what he is capable of at Manchester City though some would argue that he had more money to spend there than when Sam Allardyce took over Newcastle but still,it is money well spend.

We are now living in a time when football chairman are increasingly getting impatient for instant success and not giving enough time for the managers to work their stuff out.Im a Newcastle supporter so I know that perfectly. But as in the case of Sven,I thought he has done a very good job in his first season alone and I believe that if he stays,Manchester City will be one of the club to beat next season. As a fan from another club,I hope that wont happen but I think every team is getting much stronger every season it is impossible to avoid it.I like Thaksin as a politician but I dont think he is a good businessman. It would be a huge mistake to sack Sven,at least give him one more season to prove he is good enough to get the club to europe.I really hope to see Sven still managing Man City next season but if he does indeed leave,I think there would be some serious repercussion in the summer and who would want to manage the club if the expectations is that huge.

I wonder what do you have to say about this news.Do you think Thaksin is right in sacking Sven or do you think Sven should stay because he is what Manchester City need right now? Do share your views with me.
