Malay music event Anugerah Planet Muzik to beam to 160m viewers...

If youre a malay, then you would probably know what event I am talking about.Anugerah Planet Muzik (APM) Awards is a mega event in the Malay music calendar, its like the Grammy Awards of the Malay music industry in this region as it honours the region's best performers in the Malay music industry which will bring all the biggest stars from Singapore,Indonesia and Malaysia together. And for this year's event,it will be held in Malaysia after a five-year hiatus.

The regional extravaganza will be beamed to more than 160 million viewers across four countries, marking a milestone for APM,which is currently into its eighth year. APM is organised by MediaCorp's Malay radio stations,Ria 89.7FM and Warna 94.2FM.This year's performers include Malaysia's Siti Nurhaliza,Anuar Zain,Mawi and Faizal Tahir,Indonesia's Kris Dayanti and Bunga Citra Lestari, and our own Singapore Idols,Taufik Batisah and Hady Mirza. Now here is the interesting part.Astro Ria,a Malaysian cable network will be broadcasting the awards "live" in Malaysia and Brunei on April 20 while Global TV will also carry the programme "live" in Indonesia. How about our own malay channel Suria TV? Unfortunately for us in Singapore, there will be no live coverage of it.Instead,it will be shown on a delayed telecast on April 26 at 9pm.If you want to watch it or listen it live I should say,you can do it on the two malay radio stations,Ria and Warna as it will be broadcasting the event "live" but it will be boring of course because you cant see what is really happening, its like listening to a football match on the radio, where you can only listen to the commentary and not the action itself.

I have always wondered why for us in Singapore, there will also be a delayed telecast. Its frustrating for us or me at least because I have to wait for 6 more days to watch the event itself. If this event was held in Singapore,I would have probably bought the tickets already, but since it is in Malaysia,I cant attend as I have something big that will going to happen soon and I need to prepare myself, plus it is on a Sunday,I cant ask my parents to go with me because they have to work the next day.I just hope that in the future,Suria will be able to telecast it "live" because it is such a major event and if you want more publicity than you need to show it "live" just like what our Malaysian and Indonesian brothers and sisters are getting, and not to mention Brunei.I still cant wait for the event though, here hoping for my favourite stars to win!
