This past few days, there has been some reports that the current US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is interested in becoming the vice president if John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, manage to become the next US President.Senator McCain however dismissed that report.
He admit that Rice is a outstanding person to be having in the team, but added that he 'missed those signals' that shows that Rice is interested in running as the VP.State Department spokesman Sean McCormack also denied Monday Rice was interested in the job saying that she would be the last person to know about it if she is actively seeking the vice presidency. The comments come after Dan Senor,a leading Republican strategist, and a former Bush administration official, suggested on ABC Sunday that Rice is mounting a behind-the-scenes campaign to be McCain's running mate.Senor cited Rice's recent appearance at the weekly meeting of Americans for Tax Reform; a leading organization of Republican insiders,as evidence she is attempting to cozy up to the conservative elite.Speculation has long surrounded Rice as a potential vice-presidential nominee, especially after it became clear the Democratic presidential ticket will either feature a woman or an African-American for the first time in American history. But Rice however have said many times before that she is not interested whatsoever.Another name that has been cropping up to take up the vice presidency position is former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney,a rival in the Republican primaries who recently joined McCain on some campaign events. The comments come days after McCain acknowledged he had narrowed down his potential list of running mates to 20 names.
When I first heard the news that Rice could be interested in becoming the VP,I was really surprised.Lets say the news are true and Rice would run as the VP with John McCain, that would be very interesting to watch. It could bring in more support for McCain or at the same time,it could derail McCain chances at becoming the next president. If you look at the two Democratic presidential nominees,Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, you get one African American and one women. But if you put both the factor together, you will get Condoleezza Rice! She maybe in the current Bush administration now,so many people would obviously be questioning her about the unpopular decision to go to war in Iraq,so that maybe a downside for McCain. But I honestly believe that she would do a good job if she ever becomes the VP.As for Romney,I doubt it will happen but you never know.Romney came up second in the Republican presidential race, and it would give McCain more support then.I kind of like Romney too.He is a smart guy,a good business man who has a lot of experience in the economy. And when you got McCain who knows everything that is needed about war being a war veteran himself, both of them does look like a good team.
As you all know,I am an Obama fan.So I will still be rooting for him to win.I may have said many good things above regarding John McCain, but I was simply discussing the issues out, there is no conflict of interest on my part. The next round of polls couldnt have come fast enough which is the Pennsylvania state.I will talk to you again regarding the election when the time come.
