Nearly 10,000 reported killed by China quake

An earthquake,measuring 7.9 magnitude which hit Sichuan,in southwest China yesterday,has reportedly killed 10,000 people.The quake was the largest the region has seen "for over a generation." It could be felt as far as Shanghai,Hong Kong,Vietnam and even Bangkok.The area has also been rocked by more than 1,180 aftershocks of up to magnitude six according to the Sichuan provincial seismological bureau.Rescue effort is still undergoing but rainy weather and poor logistics are causing some problems. -CNN


Obama takes superdelegate lead on eve of West Virginia Primary

U.S. Democratic Presidential hopeful,Sen. Barack Obama took the lead in the race for superdelegates on the eve of a contest that Sen. Hillary Clinton is expected to win big.Obama picks up four more superdelegate endorsements on Monday which now give Senator Obama with 277 superdelegates as compared to 273 for Hillary Clinton.At the beginning of the year,Clinton led the superdelegate race by more than 100.Clinton though has vowed to stay in the race until someone gets enough delegates to clinch the nomination. -CNN


Apple iPhone will be made available in Singapore later this year

Apple Inc has signed deals to bring the iPhone to Singapore,India,Australia and the Philippines this year,which should help the company surpass its sales goal of 10 million units by the end of 2008.Bharti Airtel Ltd,India's top mobile operator,will carry the iPhone in the world's fastest-growing wireless market.SingTel unit Optus will offer the iPhone in Australia,and Globe Telecom will be the Philippine partner.SingTel is part of the shareholders in both companies.The phone is expected to be release in Singapore in September but neither Apple or Singtel have said anything. -Reuters
