'A Conversation With The Blogging God'
It's Saturday today and its time to post another edition of the section I call 'A Conversation With The Blogging God." On this week post,I manage to catch up with another foreign student in the class. He's big,he's strong, and you dont want to mess with him.He is none other than Mr Jeffry Komala.
Hi there Jeffry.First of all, thanks for your time to do this interview.Let's get down to business.Fill us in on what has been happening.
I am currently studying in Nanyang Polytechnic and taking the Informatics course.
I see.You have been in the school for quite a while now.How has it been so far? Are you enjoying yourself?
It's been good,I have made some new friends, even though there are only 9 boys in my class.I am also enjoying the course as well. Its great to learn some IT and business stuff at the same time. The only disappoinment is that my school is very far and I always waste every 2 hours of my day travelling there.Nevertheless,I am still enjoying myself.
Now,if I am not wrong, you are still in the same school as your girlfriend. Was it fated or did you guys plan it out first because of your strong love for each other?
Well, you could say that we had plan it,but the main point why I have decided to choose NYP was because of their low cut off points for the Business Informatics course, which can be as low as 18,as compared to other Polytechnics such as Temasek or Singapore Poly. Therefore, the only choice that I can take was the one in NYP as I got 18 points for my L1R4.Anyway,it's also good to be in the same school with my girl as I will not have any difficulties going around Singapore to meet her.
I see.Going back to the past,is there anything that you miss about our old school?
Yeah,I miss ALL of the guys in 5A and not to mention the favourite words and phrases of Mdm Wong, like,'Yes,Sit,Standup,Take out your weapon' and many more of course.I also miss bulls***ing with the guys too like Azam (Laughter) .
Who was it in the class that you felt you was most comfortable with and why?
Everyone! That's because we have known each other for about 3 and 5 years for some,so it's comfortable for me to talk with everyone from the class.
What was your most memorable moment in BNSS if you can remember one?
I can only remember clearly the time when I was in Sec 2 and was bullied by JianWei.Although he didn't mean any harm,it eventually became a serious case, but fortunately though, the problems were solved. My Secondary 2 life was very very playful.
For most of us,we only met you and got to know you at some point of time during our time in BNSS.How long have you actually study in Singapore and why did you chose to study here?
I have been studying here for 7+ years now.My parents brought me here to study as Singapore education system is much more better than Indonesia's,that's why they had brought me here to study.
Do you think things would be much different for you now had you stayed in Indonesia and not come to Singapore?
Hmm I don't think it will have much difference. But I enjoy studying in Singapore. The classroom and schools here are all very clean.Take a look at the schools in Indonesia if you have the opportunity and you will know what I mean.
In a way,I understand what you are trying to say.Moving on,what are your plans after Polytechnic then?
I think I will be working in Singapore after that as I had signed a tuition grant with the government here. Therefore in return,I need to work in a Singapore-based company for at least 3 years.
I see.And finally, any final words for our friends who are reading this right now?
I hope that they will plan another gathering during the June holiday. All the people should better be free, especially Azam (Laughter). It would be great if the whole class can come if we are going to have another gathering.
Alright noted that.We have come to the end of the conversation.I hope you have enjoy reading it as much as I did.Till next time, see ya!

Another great season of Survivor has come to an end...

The latest season of the hit reality TV series 'Survivor' has come to an end recently and what a season it has been.'Survivor: Micronesia' sawsome of the past Survivor contestant who didn't win the 1 million dollars, competing against the fans and at the end of the game,it was one of the favourites who managed to win the second time round.
Parvati Shallow,25 and a charity organiser, was the last woman standing on "Survivor: Micronesia, and hence, claim the title of "Sole Survivor" and the CBS reality show's $1 million prize money. If you have been following Survivor since the first season, you would remember Parvati previously came in sixth place on "Survivor: Cook Islands".Shallow received five votes over three for runner-up Amanda Kimmel, who came close to winning the competition the last time she was in the show which was during last season of "Survivor: China".She also beat 37-year-old nurse Cirie Fields and 32-year-old bartender Natalie Bolton.
It marked the first time in the reality competition's 16-season history that four female contestants made it to the end of the game. Here is how Parvati manage to get to the final 2.During the finale,Amanda won both immunity challenges, and then choosing Shallow to accompany her at the final tribal council. That last deliberation featured two players vying for votes from an eight-person jury of cast-off competitors, unlike the three previous "Survivor" seasons, which featured three contestants angling for winning votes. So if you do your math, there was a possibility of the final vote being a tie,but it didnt happen.
As a huge "Survivor" fan who have been following the show since it started,I have to say this season was probably one of the best.If youre a fan just like me,Im sure you will agree with me too.I mean, this season that was a lot of drama that took place. We have the record number of blindside, contestants being force to drop out of the game due to injuries and not to mention, record number of dumb moves. For me,the dumbest move in the game goes to Erik. giving the idol to Natalie.I thought it couldnt get any dumber with Ozzy and Jason, but it actually did.At the same time,it also shows that the girls really work their stuff.
I had high hopes for the season when it began, and it hasnt disappoint me.Im not a fan of Amanda or Parv, and I thought Amanda would have a better chance of winning, but thinking again,Parvati deserve it more. She was the mastermind behind all the blindsides. It all began with Ozzy, that was a really smart move and it goes on with Jason and Erik. But anyway, all these things made it a greater season to watch, everyone has their own story and it has been a great season! Time fly so fast it seems like the season started last week.I told you about the possibility of the final vote ending up in a tie,but it didnt happen.I was wondering how will they decide the winner if it did end up in a draw but Jeff didnt say anything about it.Nevertheless, congratulation to Parvati for winning it.
"Survivor: Micronesia" has given us some of the greatest moment ever in the history of the show, but it is over now.The show will now go back to Africa as I will talk to you again about the show in the next season of the show,"Survivor : Gabon -- Earth's Last Eden" which will premiere in the fall.See you then!

Statement from the Blogging God
For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
May 16, 2008
In view of the natural disasters that have happened recently, the cyclone in Myanmar and then the earthquake in China, the Blogging God,would like to offer his deepest sympathy and condolence to all that are affected.
Like many others,he is also shocked by the number of deaths the two natural disasters have done and he hope that those who are affected will be able to return to their normal lives as soon as possible. There is no doubt it will take time but God will help those who are patient enough. The least he or as a matter of fact, anyone else could do to help is to donate some money through various organisation such as the Red Cross or Mercy Relief. It is a difficult period for the people of both countries and they will need every help they can get,so remember to do your part.
Rescue workers are working non stop to find for any survivors in China and he would want to hear more stories of survivor than stories of death. His thoughts right now are with the Chinese and the people of Myanmar and he hope that the situation will improve in the coming weeks.

Edwards endorses Obama!

If you havn't heard the good news yet today,I will tell you now.Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, has endorsed Sen. Barack Obama on Wednesday at a campaign event in Michigan.According to Edwards,Obama is a man "who knows and understands that this is a time for bold leadership".
The announcement punctured Clinton's short-lived boost after her landslide win in Tuesday's West Virginia primary, although the former first lady was still vowing to fight on.Nevertheless,Edwards also praised her candidacy by describing Clinton as a woman "made of steel" who had strengthened the Democratic Party and the eventual presidential nominee by fighting so doggedly for issues dear to her heart.Edwards quit this year's White House nominating race in late January but remains an outspoken voice in the party on the need to confront America's growing rich-poor divide. He could now release his 19 pledged delegates to Obama, and help him reach out to the white,working-class voters who have supported Hillary Clinton in the race so far and will play a key role in November's general election. Both Obama and Clinton has been trying to get Edward's endorsement for months, and he finally gave it to Obama and rightly so I think.
I couldn't be more happier with this news being an Obama fan.I think its a huge boost to Obama's campaign because now,he could start to get the support from the white,working-class voters, the group that had supporter John Edwards when he was still in the race but now has move on to support Clinton instead. In addition,John Edwards does have quite a number of supporters and if he could get them to vote for Obama instead of Clinton,it would be great! I didnt think that Edwards would finally come out and endorse either one,but he did and I think he made the right choice. To be honest with you,I was more of an Edwards fan than Obama at the start of the race, but when he dropped out,I started to support Obama and I think both Obama and Edwards would make a great dream ticket.Barack Obama for the president and John Edwards for the vice president! How about that! I love the idea and I hope it will come true.Edwards himself would not be a stranger in that role after running as the vice president for Sen. John Kerry in 2004 election which the Democrats lost of course.
As for Hillary,Im sure she will be disappointed with this news because she herself is very close to John Edwards and his wife, but in this race, there can only be one winner and that is none other than the next president of the United States,Barack Obama.I will update you on any new development as and when they come but for now, have a nice day.

Henin bids farewell to the tennis world...

World number one women tennis player,Justine Henin is quitting professional tennis with immediate effect, she told a press conference in Belgium on Wednesday, hence confirming earlier reports in the Belgian press that she was bowing out while still at the top of the world rankings.
Henin, who is turning 26 next month, has headed the official WTA rankings for 117 consecutive weeks. She has won seven grand slams and was due to defend her French Open title later this month. But she withdrew from this week's big clay court tournament in Rome, citing fatigue, only a day after being upset by Russian Dinara Safina in the third round of the German Open. Her previous appearance on WTA Tour came in the first week of April when she was thrashed 6-2 6-0 by Serena Williams in the Miami quarterfinals.Henin was the dominant player in the women's game last year, winning 10 of 14 tournaments, including two grand grand slams and became the first player in history to win more than $5 million in a season.
Her retirement comes a year after her great Belgian rival Kim Clijsters quit competitive tennis to get married and become a mother. Here's an interesting fact that you might want to know about Henin. She has won all the grand slams except Wimbledon. She have won the French Open for four times, once for Australian Open and twice for the U.S. Open. The closest she came to winning Wimbledon was in 2001 and 2006 when she was the runner up.She said that winning the Wimbledon would not make her happier and that it was too much for her.Her shock retirement news has send shockwave through out the women tennis world.
I was kind of shocked as well when I heard about the news.I thought it was just rumours at first, but it turn out to be true.I don't know what is her reason for retiring, whether it is because of her poor performance this year or it is because of her personal problem, but I think it is the latter.I mean she is still number one,and a few shocking loss is normal, every top player or team will experience that once in a while,so she has no reason whatsoever to retire if it is because of her current performance.Plus, she is still 26 and there is a long way to go.Im not a big fan of Justine but I must say she is a great player. If she havn't retire,Im sure she will still be the world number one at the end of this year. It's kind of sad because she has retire without winning Wimbledon before. Its like Roger Federer retiring without winning the Roland Garros. But again,it's her decision to make. Her retirement means it will let others to shine on the big stage now.
The tennis world will surely miss a great player like Justine,I have a lot of respect for what she have done and everything that she have accomplished in her illustrious tennis career.I wish her all the best for her future but for now,let us all prepare for the upcoming grand slam which is the Roland Garros which will start in 2 weeks time.

Hillary Clinton wins in West Virginia...

The people in West Virginia went to the polls today in another round of primary election to decide which democratric nominee will become the presidential nominee. And there was no surprise who the winner was going to be and it was decisive. With more 90 percent of precincts reporting,Clinton captured 67 percent of the vote and the bulk of the state's 28 pledged delegates.
Despite recent calls asking her to quit the race, she has vowed to continue through five remaining primaries, even as Obama turns his sights on Republican John McCain. This was an expected victory for Clinton because West Virginia is one of the states that like the Clinton's very much, including Bill as seen from past year election results.Even Obama had predicted earlier that he was not going to win it and only made limited appearances in West Virginia as he turned attention to swing states that will be important in the November election against McCain. But again, many analysts are saying that her victory today,no matter how big the margin is,will only do little for her flattering campaign. After today, the latest estimated number of delegates for both candidates, adding in pledged delegates won in primaries and caucuses, stands at 1,875 for Obama to Hillary Clinton delegates of 1,712, according to an unofficial tally by the Associated Press.A candidate needs 2,026 to win the nomination.
Like I said earlier, this result is nothing surprising nor does it affect me very much because the tide is now on Obama's side and its a matter of time before Obama become the Democratic Presidential nominee. The best thing for Hillary to do now is to quit the race gracefully and start to support Obama instead. Her campaign is in huge debt and she is trailing Obama in the number of superdelegates. She is battling a sure to fail campaign now and she will only do more damage to Obama and their party's chances of winning the national election if she continue to do what she is planning to do which is to continue on her bid.I actually think despite all the smiles and all the positive hope she is giving and telling, she is starting to think how and when will she drop out.
Nevertheless, congratulation to Hillary for her big win today despite its little significance. The campaign trail now moves to Kentucky and Oregon, which will vote in one week time.See you then.
