The Blogging God welcome the election of Khoo Boon Hui as Interpol President...

For Immediate Release
Office of the Press Secretary
October 11, 2008

The Blogging God today is pleased to hear the news of our very own Police Commissioner Khoo Boon Hui as the new INTERPOL president. For those of you who have no idea what INTERPOL is, it stands for International Criminal Police Organisation, and it has 187 member countries. INTERPOL aims to facilitate international police co-operation even where diplomatic relations do not exist between particular countries.

Khoo was chosen by a panel of delegates at the end of the general assembly of the 187-country police organisation in Saint Petersburg, Russia, according to a statement on its website. Khoo will replace South Africa's chief of police Jackie Selebi, who resigned in January after prosecutors announced their intention to charge him over his links to a businessman accused of murder. The Blogging God is proud that a fellow Singaporean has been selected to lead such a fine organisation which plays an important role in ensuring security and stability around the world. He has every belief that Khoo will do a good job as the president and that INTERPOL will continue to achieve better things under his leadership. His experience as the Police Commissioner for Singapore will no doubt help him a lot in doing his job and the Blogging God is sure that every member of the organisation will have every confidence and faith in his ability, which probably explain the reason why he was elected to be the new presient.

Khoo will serve a four-year term as president of INTERPOL's executive committee, in addition to his existing duties as commissioner of the Singapore Police Force. He will be based in Singapore. The Blogging God would like to wish him well in his job as the president of INTERPOL and he knows that Khoo will make not just Singapore, but the world of justice proud as well.
