Police tape: Canada bus killer ate victim's flesh....

I dont know if you heard about a gruesome news in Canada a few days ago, but Im going to tell you what happened for those of you who have no idea what had happened.

[Report] A police officer at the scene of a grisly beheading on a Canadian bus reported seeing the attacker hacking off pieces of the victim's body and eating them, according to a police tape leaked on the Internet Saturday. In the tape of radio transmissions, a Royal Canadian Mounted Police officer refers to the attacker as "Badger" and says he is armed with a knife and scissors and is "defiling the body at the front of the bus as we speak."

On the tape, which lasts about 80 seconds, officers continue to detail the attacker's movements until one reports, "Badger's at the back of the bus, hacking off pieces and eating it." The RCMP described the tapes as "operational police communications and, as such, are not meant for public consumption." Police said permission had not been given to use the radio transmission, which was posted on LiveLeak.com and picked up by other Web sites. Officers were responding to a desolate stretch of the TransCanada Highway about 12 miles from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, after the bloody attack late Wednesday on the bus traveling from Edmonton, Alberta to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Vince Weiguang Li, 40, faces second-degree murder charges for the murder of a 22-year-old man, who friends and family identified as Tim McLean. Police have not confirmed the victim's identity. Passengers said they had just reboarded the bus following a break when the suspect — for no apparent reason — stabbed the man sitting next to him dozens of times as passengers fled in horror. He then severed the man's head, displayed it and began hacking at the body.

Li's employer said in an interview Saturday that he was shocked to learn that his "model employee" had been accused of the grisly attack. Vincent Augert, an independent contractor who distributes newspapers in Edmonton, said that Li was one of his most reliable carriers. Augert said Li had worked for him since last July and caused no problems. Augert said that Li called him two weeks ago to say he needed a day or two off to go to Winnipeg for a job interview at the end of July. He said Li called him back and left a message with the dates, but never followed up after that. Augert said he called Li's cell phone on Thursday and his wife answered. She told him that she hadn't heard from Li, who had told her he had to leave for a few days because of a family emergency. Li, who shuffled into a courtroom Friday in Portage la Prairie with his head bowed and feet shackled, appeared before the court without a lawyer. He did not reply when the judge asked him whether he was going to get a lawyer, and only nodded slightly when asked whether he was exercising his right not to speak. He was not required to enter a plea. The prosecutor asked for a psychiatric assessment, but the judge said he wanted to give Li a chance to meet with his lawyer. Li's next court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday. The RCMP said Li has no known criminal record.

McLean's family spoke publicly Saturday for the first time since the brutal attack. McLean's uncle, Alex McLean, told reporters that McLean "was a little guy with a heart bigger than you could know." The killing has spawned a vast online community, with tens of thousands showing support for McLean's family and expressing disgust for the attack. One of the many groups on the social networking site Facebook has accumulated over 40,000 members with more than 2,000 wall posts. [End of report]

I know it is a disturbing news. I mean try to imagine if youre one of the passenger in the bus. Everyone else including you are sleeping when suddenly you hear someone screaming loudly and when you wake up, you see another passenger being stabbed about a dozens of times or so and then being beheaded. I am already getting chills describing the event. I thought and just when I thought that was the end, I read today that he even ate the flesh of the victim. There must definitely be something wrong with his mind Im sure because the attack wasnt a planned one and the police has not found any motives whatsoever for the attack. Both the attacker and the victim didnt know each other so he must be crazy to have done what he did. The fact that he didnt bring his lawyer with him in the court yesterday shows that he was probably ready to accept whatever punishment that he would received.

I dont understand why there is a need to send him to the psychiatrist because his act is so horrible that I think he deserved the death punishment whether he was in the right state of mind or not. Im not sure though whether Canada does practice the death penalty. If there isnt, I think the worse possible punishment that he could receieved is the lifetime imprisonment but it would be interesting to hear what he has to say for his actions though Im sure nobody cares what his reason is. The ironic thing about the entire incident is that his employer described him as his "model employee". Im sure he wouldn't be saying the same thing now. I think there is a saying that tells about how someone who might look nice and innocent on the outside is not as good on the inside and I think the same can be said about Li. Im just glad that nobody else was hurt by him, well not physically but mentally yes. I mean if you saw such grisly incident in a movie, Im sure it will remain with you for sometime, but to see it happening in real life, Im sure it will stick with you for even a longer time.

His next court appearance is scheduled for next Tuesday so it would be interesting to see if he bring back a lawyer this time round. Whatever it is, I hope he will received a harsh punishment. You dont want him to go back out and repeat the same thing again. I also hope that such incident wont be repeated again in Canada or anywhere else for that matter. Killing somebody and then beheading him and eating his flesh, urgh that is disturbing.

Oh God of the blogging world...first of all, Li has to go through the drill in order to keep him locked up for as long as possible.

Documentation=Sentencing=Incarceration=Keeping him away from the rest of us, either in prison or in a psychiatric facility.

Obviously, I think that most of the SANE people in the world want him to be put away for the rest of his life.

Second, you're right: The thought of that monster being released on the street is incomprehensible. And I sincerely hope that the Canadian government doesn't do it. Ever.

Third, I believe that Greyhound Lines, Inc. needs to get its collective act together and establish a security system that is worth a darn.

It is possible that Li could have gone after a child or the bus driver, himself. If that had happened while the driver was operating the bus...the results could have been far more catastrophic. Or suppose Li would have started hacking at people in a terminal?!!

Good Lord! I thought this kinda stuff (Columbine shootings, WTC collapsing, and what not) happened only in the States... not in Canada!! This reminds me of a movie I once saw... and just as Ruthie does, I certainly hope for Li to be incarcerated for life, thought I am strangely reminded of the case of Issei Sagawa, who merely "checked out" of an institution in Japan where he was to remain for cannibalizing a fellow student while in France, and where he now enjoys the status of a minor celebrity.

To ruthie regarding the security system,I think it is feasible but I doubt that there are such system being operated on any bus companies now in Canada or in anywhere else for that matter because such cases doesnt happen frequently but after this incident, maybe things will change for the better.

I mean they could scan all the passengers before the boarding the bus or put a bus marshall on the bus or something, just like what we have on the planes. The driver themselves should know how to react in these kind of situations too. Whatever it is, the security in the buses has to improve to avoid such incident from happening again.

As for Realtor, I think this kind of stuff can happen anywhere. I mean you have crazy people everywhere in the world, you just dont know when they are going to take some crazy actions. I hope such incident wont be happening again but recently, I heard there was a similar case in Greece, where a guy killed his girlfriend and beheaded while showing to the public at a beach.

I dont know which is worst, what I know is that both of them are disgusting and that there too many crazy people walking in the streets right now. So do take care of yourselve.
